A black truffle, which is also known as the "Black Sugar Truffle", is actually a fruiting body that is a part of a subterranean organism, primarily one of the Mycorrhizoid fungi, known by a variety of different names. These fungi, most commonly known as mycelial fungi or mushroom mycelium, can live both in soil and in water; they are a part of the organic food web around us.
